“We like to be under the sea, in an octopus’s garden (Ringo Starr)
It’s the future (the year 3011) and the local land has returned to the sea; the Pavilion is at the centre of an underwater town. You arrive at the front door in a yellow submarine. Fish glide past the windows, there’s an oyster bed in the basement and the gardens bloom with coral. Imagine you are an architect or engineer designing this underwater town, or a zoologist or botanist exploring all the creatures and plants that live there.
Families and young people - here's your chance to get drawing! Have fun working with DLWP artist Sheridan Quigley to create imaginative scenes from the Octopus's Garden, using unusual materials on unusual surfaces around the Pavilion. The day will end with a procession to the beach where we will return our drawings to the sea!
The Big Draw is for everyone, so come along with your friends, family, or on your own to get creative in a friendly and welcoming environment.
The De La Warr Pavilion’s 2010 Big Draw event won Highly Commended in The Big Draw 2010 Awards.
We are happy to announce that this year's Big Draw event has been awarded 100 beautiful Moleskine sketchbooks for use on the day. The first 100 families to complete thier activity sheet will receive a sketchbook.
