Jonathan Lemalu

Jonathan Lemalu, a New Zealand born Samoan is a joint winner of the 2002 Kathleen Ferrier Award and the recipient of the 2002 Royal Philharmonic Society’s Award for Young Artist of the Year. He has sung Figaro (‘Le Nozze di Figaro’) and Don Basilio (‘The Barber of Seville’) for English National Opera; Papageno (‘The Magic Flute’) for the Glyndebourne Festival and Colline (‘La Boheme’) at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. For Opera Australia he has sung Leporello (‘Don Giovanni’) and Mozart’s Figaro. In the United States, he made his debuts for the Metropolitan Opera Company as Masetto (‘Don
Giovanni’) and for the Lyric Opera of Chicago as Papageno. Most recently he sang Porgy with Harnoncourt at the Styriarte Festival in Austria. Jonathan’s debut recital disc was awarded the Gramophone Magazine Debut Artist of the Year Award.

Gweneth-Ann Jeffers

Among the best of today’s young British singers, Gweneth-Ann Jeffers is noted for her commanding voice and vivid personality. She has already been heard in an exceptionally wide range of repertoire including leading roles for Welsh National Opera (Leonora IL TROVATORE) and Oper Köln (Leonora LA FORZA DEL DESTINO) as well as concert engagements in Britain, Europe, Australia and Japan.
Recent performances include her role debuts as Gutrune GÖTTERDÄMMERUNG (at the BBC Proms with Donald Runnicles), TOSCA at the Teatro São Carlos in Lisbon, LA GIOCONDA for Opera Holland Park, and PORGY AND BESS for the Macedonian Philharmonic. She also performed Messiaen’s HARAWI at the 2008 Proms and as part of the Southbank Centre’s composer centenary celebrations From the Canyons to the Stars.
