In celebration of Sussex Day, local Blues band The Exiles will play two rocking sets on the bandstand from 2pm until 4.30 pm.
The Exiles' range of music is as diverse as the instruments they play and they love to entertain with an eclectic mixture of twelve-bar and country Blues, Railroad songs, Traditional Celtic music and English Folk music in all its guises, with some Jazz and even a sea shanty for good measure.
They have played regularly for National Cancer Support at their annual conference in Manchester, and ask for donations toward that charity and to Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital.
Closer to home, they have done fundraisers or just played for the joy of it at clubs, bistros and concert venues. They encourage anyone to get up and dance be it to Jive, to polka or to waltz, failing that, joining in with the hand clapping and chorus singing.
Band members are:
Chris Cole, 12-string guitar and vocals (and Storytelling)
Mick Hartwell, Electric/Acoustic guitar and vocals
Nigel Taylor, Bass Guitar and Melodeon
Colin Underhill, Mandolin, Banjo, Bazouki
Ian Miller, an arsenal of Harmonicas
Rich Mann, Bodhran, Washboard, Cajon (and much barracked "barker")
