The East Sussex School of Perfoming Arts presents:
Legend - The Musical
A story based on the tale of St George.
An adventure for the whole family.
“Legend” the musical, is a story of St. George, England’s patron Saint.
The Medieval Town of Laughtonmoor, is preparing for the annual Spring fair. A minstrel arrives and engages the children of the town with the story of the crusades and famous heroes. The tavern children set out on an adventure to find mysterious eggs which can be used for their pancakes. The Lord Mayor and Tavern keeper are especially exited as this is the time of year they can make the most money. The travelling players arrive and amuse the young tavern wenches with promises of romance and enchant the town’s children with clowning and song.
Amidst the many celebrations - maypole dances - pancake competitions - arrive some refugees from an outlying farm with distressing news of a forest fire and suggest the Mayor cancels the festival. The mayor pushes the refugees aside and announces the opening of the festival. When the travelling players are performing and the dancing is at its height, the town is torched by a mysterious blaze.
The following action finds the townsfolk trying to find out what caused the town’s devastation, and what has happened to Nell – the lovely young heroine. Is it all down to a mysterious Beast? Why would any beast want to destroy the town and capture Nell? Why do all attempts to thwart the beast fail? Can the young George who has ambitions to be a famous crusader, save the day?
To find out more come along on Wednesday 9th April. Performance times are at 2.30 and 7.30 p.m.
The talented young performers from the East Sussex School of Performing Arts are the stars of this all singing all dancing show. Experience an adventure for the whole family - young and old.
