Jay Clifton in conversation with writer Harriet Vyner, author of the novel Among Ruins published by Faber and Faber, will discuss the influence of film on writers of the twentieth century – from F Scott Fitzgerald to Terry Southern and the particular influence of Godard’s Le Mépris on Harriet’s work.

A satire with teeth, Godard’s most accessible but bravest film. A conflict between artistic expression and commercial opportunity parallels the progressive estrangement between a husband and wife.
