This autumn, Kate Nash brings her inimitable, candid take on life to the De La Warr Pavilion.

Following on from a sold-out European Tour and performances at UK festivals including Galstonbury, V Festival and T in the Park, Kate Nash's UK shows will see her perform songs from her second album, My Best Friend is You.

Her debut album, Made of Bricks was about wanting to be in love; her second album is about trust, sexism, homophobia, honesty and how being in a serious relationship has made her feel less selfish and more grown-up. Whilst displaying a new-found maturity in her songwriting, her inate ability to confront issues close to the heart with brutal honesty and sparkling wit remains, and she is bigger and bolder than ever.

Since the age of just 20 Kate's career has been on fast-forward; her debut album coming in at number one not even a year after she was discovered via MySpace. Not bad for a girl from Harrow, whose early attempts at writing songs as a kid were on an old tape recorder.

Kate's insatiable work ethic meant that her planned year off was spent co-founding the Featured Artists Coalition with Billy Bragg and Blur's Dave Rowntree that works to give artists a voice in the music business. She is also involved in V-Day aimed at ending violence towards women, and the Wish Centre, a shelter for abused women in Harrow. All, she says modestly, to stop her from watching Jeremy Kyle.

Kate is rightly proud of her second album, My Best Friend is You. "Nothing was rushed; I've developed as a writer" she explains, but does Kate still feel like an outsider? "I will probably always feel like an outsider because I don't fit the format of a female artist. But I'm not worried about it. No way. I've always done things my own way and, for that reason alone, I'm happy."

“There’s something brilliant about Nash so completely confounding expectation” The Big Issue

“Colloquial lyricism's and insights upon a bed of ‘60’s girl pop influence” Clash

“Nash sounds just like herself, and that’s exactly when she shines most brightly”  NME 7/10

“The pre-eminent chronicler of pop verité… full of sweet love” Observer

Special Guest - Brigitte Aphrodite

As a teenager growing up in the grey suburbs of Bromley, Brigitte always felt like a bit of an outsider. This inspired her to indulge in fanatical obsessions with androgynous music superstars like Jarvis Cocker and David Bowie, fueling Brigitte’s passion for cocktail sipping in Soho and wearing too much red lipstick.

Brigitte's one woman show, Brigitte Aphrodite in Suburban Hell combines music, comedy and poetry. It is a fantastical biographical view of her life so far; her utterly bizarre thoughts and experiences woven together to form a heart-warming yet explosive firework of a show!

Brigitte Aphrodite puts the glitter in modern day Glam rock and brazenly sums up the outrageous irony of modern popular culture using poetical songs with wild and charming wit.

"A sparkling mix of comedy and music delivered with a great deal of impish knowing charm...Jarvis Cocker should be honoured by this girl's admiration" Broadway Baby

"Pure fabulous escapism that will leave you grinning from ear to ear" Three Weeks

"Utterly eccentric masterpiece....her talent is in abundance and there is literally no other like her" Volt Magazine
