Known to as 'the Bard of Salford' John Cooper Clarke's unique, rapid fire delivery of his poems, razor sharp gags and tales of the absurd or just hilarious, has seen Clarke perform for over 30 years.
Earning the reputation as THE show support to some of the biggest acts of the UK punk scene including Be-Bop Deluxe, Buzzcocks, Joy Division and The Fall, John Cooper Clarke earned the mantle of the "Punk poet". His poems presented a mixture of gritty northern realism mixed with an original humour that can't be emulated.
John enjoyed chart success with the single Gimmix! Play Loud, and album Snap, Crackle & Bop during the late 1070s and 80s and his recent Best Of put him back in the charts once again. His collection of verses 10 years In an Open Neck Shirt remains a poetry best seller.
A veteran performer, John regularly appears at literature, comedy and music festivals and tours extensively across the globe. Many young bands have cited him as a massive influence on their own lyrics and style including The Artic Monkeys who recently devoted a whole TV programme to their love of the poet.
Salena's writing has been published in both mainstream and art-house literary magazines and her poetry is published by uber cool imprint Litlle Nasty Press. Salena hosts and produces The Book Club Boutique, Soho's hippest literary salon and she is the singer of the resident band.
Salena works for The First Story Charity that aims nurture literacy and creative writing in secondary schools. Recently, she was appeared as a regular guest on BBC Radio 4's Saturday Live programme, writing and performing poetry live on air.
