Until 12 July, Tuesday - Saturday 11 - 4pm
Hallucinating Angels - a Community Art and Theatre Collective - will present their new production of SHOES at the De La Warr Pavilion in November.
SHOES will be created around the stories that people tell about their shoes – the journeys that they have been on and the shoes’ significance to their owners.
From now until 12 July anyone is invited to take a pair of their shoes into the empty Dreams Showroom (on the corner of Sackville Road, opposite the Pavilion) and tell their story to Frances Viner, where they will be documented on film. The stories will be collected to form part of the live performance, which will also involve members of the local community. The showroom is open every day except for Sunday and Monday.
SHOES is the third production from Hallucinating Angels at the Pavilion, using the collective’s signature practice of combining community life with creative risk, resonating with the Pavilion’s historical identity as a ‘people’s palace’. Previous productions at the Pavilion and around Bexhill include We Are For Sale (2012) and Band of Gold (2013)
SHOES is supported by Arts Council England, Rother District Council, De La Warr Pavilion with additional support from Gaby Hardwicke Solicitors and Calton and Co.
