Bexhill Choral Society, under their Director of Music, Kenneth Roberts and the Sussex Concert Orchestra, are delighted to be performing again at the De La Warr Pavilion following their very successful concert in 2012 of "Great Choral Classics" celebrating their 60th Anniversary. They will be performing more "Great Choral Classics" on Saturday 14th June, with the soprano soloist Claire Williamson.
The first half of the concert celebrates English Music, with Parry’s “Blest Pair of Sirens”, Handel’s “Zadok the Priest” and “Let the Bright Seraphim”, and works by Holst and Stanford.
The second half includes the famous “Lachrymosa” and “Dies Irae” from Mozart’s “Requiem”, Bach’s “Jesu Joy of Man’s Desiring”, Verdi’s “Anvil Chorus” and “Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves”, Wagner’s “Bridal Chorus”, and Franck’s “Panis Angelicus”. The concert ends with a selection of popular American Spirituals, specially arranged for this concert by Kenneth Roberts.
