Sunday 10 August
The Hat

The Hat

Intoxicating. How many other bands can you name who are fronted by a vocal-scratching, singing drummer and backed by a trombone-wielding double bassist, a storytelling guitarist and a multi-instrumentalist with a bunch of children's toys at his disposal? An idiosyncratic pleasure and an esoteric delight.
THE GUARDIAN

Truly amazing. Each track a pocket musical odyssey in its own right, barbed stories set to noire-ish symphonies of the highest calibre - stunning in a word
MISSIVE MAGAZINE

A rich mixture of complex musical arrangements and fairy-tale lyrics: haunting, clever and funny.
THREE WEEKS

Sunday 17 August
Mountain Firework Company

Los Albertos

The Mountain Firework Company is an acoustic roots band playing soulful melodic contemporary folk,

or as one observer put it "swampy alternative bluegrass with a dark treacle folk centre"

The Mountain Firework Company delivers an original and driving sound from an all acoustic line up of guitars, banjo, fiddle, mandolin, double bass and drum kit. They are led by the Northern Irish singer songwriter Gareth Mcgahan - an eclectic finger style guitarist and banjo player, steeped in the country blues, folk and african traditions, he writes sad songs for bruised hearts and heads, which sound at once both contemporary and traditional.

The Mountain Firework Company consists of:

Gareth Mcgahan: Lead singer/guitarist
Luke Smith: Mandolin
Grant Allardyce: Drums
Simon C. Russell: Double bass
Matt Oldfield: Banjo
Jim Harmer: Mandolin
Mike Simmonds: Violin
