Big Draw 2015 - Portals To The Unexpected

Part of the Family Arts Festival When we draw we are like Alice going down the Rabbit Hole, never knowing quite what we’ll find. There have been countless other ‘portals to the unexpected’ in stories through history, from fairy tale magic pools to the wardrobe that takes us to Narnia. So, in celebration of the anniversary of Alice in Wonderland and all those other stories this Big Draw is all about going down these “portals to the unexpected.” Writer and Artist Ed Boxall will be creating drawing zones inspired by these portals. Visitors will be able to reach into rabbit holes for their drawing inspiration; crawl through the back of the wardrobe to draw on a paper forest; and even draw underwater dreamscapes in a magic pool from Celtic legend.
